Online Poker Tournament Tips

Tip 1: Try to analyze your opponent players as soon as possible; not so good players may lose their money fast and you want to be the one to take them. A bigger chip stack will give you a stronger position further on in the tournament. Feel them out fast with some calling and raising; but don’t risk too much.

Tip 2: Don’t play any big pots directly; if you don’t already know your opponents or are sitting on a killer hand. Play more passive from start and keep the margins on your side. Tip 3: Play according to your chip stack; don’t follow a raise if you may not have the chip stack to go all the way.

Tip 4: Find the players who have their mind on surviving and attack. You can recognize these players quite fast; they fold the big blind every time they meet some resistance. Identify these players, raise the blind and re-raise to see make them fold.

Tip 5: Play a smaller number of hands in early position and a larger number of hands in late position. As always in poker a late position will give you an information advantage; information that will help you to make the best play with all factors analyzed.

Tip 6: In poker tournaments you have less time to analyze your opponents; you need to start gather information immediately! Below you can find some things to be observant off:

1. Find patterns that they don’t break, for example are they always raising from the button? If they always raise from the button you can probably conclude that they are stealing blinds and half of the time they don’t have the hand to support a raise. If they don’t do it often; you better watch out when they do raise from the button!

2. What kind of hands do they raise with; try to find the range of their game. How do they play their small pairs and stronger hands, find the pattern that almost every player has and you will know when it is an opportunity to win the pot.

3. Adjust to the type of tournaments you play; keep in mind that the opponent player also adjusts his game. If you are playing a Freeze Out you can imagine that players will play tighter, especially after some bad hands. In a Re-buy tournament players will play looser; this may be even if the chip stack on the table is getting smaller.

The most important thing when you play tournaments or poker in general is to analyze how opponents play their hand. When you play poker tournaments you don’t have so much time and need to find the pattern fast. Now that you have been presented to the different types of tournaments, and some useful online poker tournaments tips, you are ready to enroll to European poker tournaments online. Put the theory to practice and start enjoying this form of poker games in a successful way!
